I went yesterday, because my daughter’s books were on hold for me, and the hold time was about to run out. I like to wait until the very last day, because usually I have other books on hold and that way they all collect up and I can make fewer trips. So, I went, and while there decided to look through the elementary education section. I wasn’t really looking for anything, but earlier that day I was working on brainstorming names for an Instagram account I am considering starting. I thought looking at the books would help with a little word association to aid in the brainstorming. Turns out we have LLM AIs for that these days. The library wasn’t much help, while meta.ai generated plenty of thoughts on the matter. That said, I ended up with a stack of four books on elementary education and teaching.
Now there’s no way I have time to read all those. Two I think I’ll skim through just to see what they are about. They would sit near my book on a shelf it I manage to get it published, so I should be aware of them. One would be a great companion for anyone reading my book to pick up for further information on math education. I’ll likely read most of this one. The fourth is Teach Like Finland. I’ve had my eye on this book for ages, because I love any book in the genre of how parents and teachers in other countries do things (Bringing Up Bebe, The Danish Way of Parenting, The Smartest Kids in the World and How They Got That Way, to name a few). I’m not a teacher though. There’s a chance I won’t find it very applicable. I’ve got The Danish Way of Raising Teens, which I bought immediately when I saw it, as a backup I guess.
